This is a really sticky situation. In a way, I completely understand the woman and not wanting to take on the forever role of being a parent. They had made the agreement in advance, and even though it's her sister's children, it doesn't mean she wants to be a parent now.

I can also completely understand the man's opinion. To him, he is willing to change his whole perspective on things for the sake of the children. It is family after all, and it would be cruel and heartless to throw his own godchildren to an orphanage. But it's something they need to come to terms with together.

Couple’s godchildren get dumped on them, the wife wants to put them up for adoption, but he puts his foot down: “I knew you’d change your mind about having kids”
When you're in the initial stages of dating there are some important questions to get out of the way immediately. Establishing where you're both at and what you're looking for is the first step. There's nothing worse and meaner than someone entering something with the intention of making it casual, but pretending like it could turn into something serious. It's absolutely fine if someone wants light-hearted, casual connections that ultimately don't last. But some people are out there looking for a partner, a long-term relationship, and even marriage.
Once you've established if you're looking for something serious, you should probably talk about future things. If you would ever want to move, or other future plans that involve relocating. And the obvious big one is kids. You should definitely talk about if you want kids or not. Many people believe their partners will change for them down the line, but in reality, it only stimulates resentment between the pair if someone sacrifices themselves to this degree.
In the story below, it's not as black and white as someone changing their mind years into a relationship. But you'll have to read the full story below for all the juicy details.
